Extensions

flat inside and outThe MK Wiring system has  been designed NOT to be modified by the occupier. If you wish to extend or change the wiring in any way, MK Wiring Systems recommends that you contact a qualified electrician.

Upon completion of the modifications, the electrician will test the system for  wiring regulation and standards compliance.  The electrician will lodge the works certificate with the local building regulatory authority. You should also obtain a copy of the certificate, which should be filed together with the Home Owners Manual.

The 10 year system guarantee will only continue to be valid after alterations, if the system has been professionally inspected and tested to show conformance to the wiring regulations, and the certificate stating this conformance is retained.

Important Note: It may be necessary to comply with the Building Regulations under Approved Document P. It may therefore be necessary to notify the local building regulatory authority before work commences. Should this be the case the electrician will advise you.

Maintenance

In accordance with Guidance Note 3 ‘Inspection and Testing’ and also regulation 732-01-01 of BS 7671, we recommend a suitably qualified electrician carry out the inspection of the installation every change of occupancy, or every 10 years.

In the event of damage to a cable or connector do not attempt a repair by shortening the cable. A suitably qualified electrician must replace the cable assembly complete with the connector, in its entirety.
